007 - Casino Royale

No list of the greatest movies of all time would be complete without at least a mention of a Bond film, and here is the greatest Bond film of all time. It's got the class, it's got the romance, it's got the beautiful Mediterranean settings, and its got the right amount of character.

Bond is this time faced with 2 gorgeous ladies, one of whom he ends up falling head over heels for the first time for, an endless placement of bad guys in different locations and a particularly bad torturing. He nearly runs over said lover girl, causing a huge accident, manages to acquire then quickly hand over 10 million Euros, and survives a sinkingVenician house where his lover girl perishes.

An irresistable Bond film for anyone who appreciates a good bit of manliness, class, fast cars, tuxedos, vodka, classy casinos and European romance. This movie is a 5 star Bond, and a 4.75 star movie overall, fantastic to enjoy and will leave you desiring class and adventure!

Silence of the Lambs

Simply the greatest movie of all time. It's got horror, a psycho murderer who gets inside your head, a fantastic story, unpredictability and chaos that you just could not make up. It almost seems TOO real; too good to be just a story on a screen...

As if the writer had experienced something more than we have, and is expertly conveying it straight into the audiences skull. It's a scary thing to see pure madness right in front of you.

It would be a crime to briefly attempt to summarize just a fantastic piece of film in a few short sentences, and so instead I would like to outline why it must be viewed by anyone with the time and the desire to enjoy that free time. The movie feels real. It isn't just some pathetic attempt at humor by Seth Rogan, nor a cheap thrill from a plastic approach of an actor of such callibre to disappoint as Steven Segal. It's pure and true, in almost every imaginable way this film makes you feel it and sense it. When I needed to use the bathroom and refresh my drink whilst watching the film any of the dozen times i've gone back to it in recent times, I've cursed those few seconds of pause. It is simply that good!

The only movie I am aware of the gets 5 stars out of 5 from everyone that appreciates good theatre, every ttime. If only more things in the world were this clever and entertaining, life would be a good deal more enjoyable with every passing day!

Donnie Darko

An early 2000s movie with fantastic use of music and camera effects to leave a desire to watch again and again, as well as an ending that is as open to interpretation as the meaning of life, leaves this movie in a class of its own. A simple google search of the movie will display just how many different views and opinions on the ending are out there; a sure sign of its quality.

Donnie is a regular schoolboy on first appearance; however, soon we find that he has some psychological issues as well as being somewhat of a genius. He meets a girl and instantly falls for her and spends his time with her, however an accident near the begining of the movie is explained later on with a massive plot twist.

An evening watching Donnie Darko can involve so many emotions and different moods, it is almost exhausting in an entertaining and fascinating way. From depressive, to a love tale as uplifting as any, to the sad reality in the last few moments on screen where the main character laughs at the audience for being so serious, this movie will have anyone that puts thought into it left in tears and confusion. A truly fantastic and entertaining movie, that to a younger audience may be scary but to adult eyes only sad and slightly sci-fi gloomy, I give this film 4.5 stars from 5.

300 Spartans

Essentially true story of how Spartan king Leonidas led an extremely small army of Greek Soldiers (300 of them his personal body guards from Sparta) to hold off an invading Persian army now thought to have numbered 250,000. The actual heroism of those who stood (and ultimately died) with Leonidas helped shape the course of Western Civilization, allowing the Greek city states time to organize an army which repelled the Persians. Set in 480 BC.

My grandfather is in this movie as one of the 300 Spartans. He was serving his military service in Greece when they filmed it and they asked his army base to use their soldiers for the film.

Cleopatra

Cleopatra, the famed Egyptian Queen born in 69 B.C., is shown to have been brought by Roman ruler Julius Caesar at age 18. Caesar becomes sexually obsessed by the 18 year old queen, beds her, and eventually has a son by her. However, his Roman followers and his wife are not pleased by the union. In fact, as Caesar has only a daughter by his wife, he had picked Octavian as his successor. The out-of-wedlock son of Cleopatra is seen to be a threat to his future leadership. Thus Brutus and other Roman legislators plot the assassination of Caesar. Caesar's loyal general, Marc Antony, and Octavian then divide up the Roman empire. Antony takes Egypt and soon takes up the affair with Cleopatra. However, Octavian soon launches an attack on Antony and ultimately defeats and mortally wounds him. Rather than permitting herself to be humiliated by Octavian, Cleopatra sends her son away to India and she commits suicide by permitting the deadly asp to bite her. This marks the fall of the Egyptian empire to the hands of the Roman empire.

Alexander

The film is based on the life of Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia, who conquered Asia MinorEgyptPersia and part of ancient India. Shown are some of the key moments of Alexander's youth, his invasion of the mighty Persian Empire and his death. It also outlines his early life, including his difficult relationship with his father Philip II of Macedonia, his strained feeling towards his motherOlympias, the unification of the Greek city-states and the two Greek Kingdoms (Macedonia and Epirus) under the Hellenic League,[4]and the conquest of the Persian Empire in 331 BC. It also details his plans to reform his empire and the attempts he made to reach the end of the then known world.

Troy

It is the year 1250 B.C. during the late Bronze age. Two emerging nations begin to clash after Paris, the Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband, Menelaus, and sail with him back to Troy. After Menelaus finds out that his wife was taken by the Trojans, he asks his brother Agamemnon to help him get her back. Agamemnon sees this as an opportunity for power. So they set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 Greeks to Troy. With the help of Achilles, the Greeks are able to fight the never before defeated Trojans. But they come to a stop by Hector, Prince of Troy. The whole movie shows their battle struggles and the foreshadowing of fate in this remake by Wolfgang Petersen of Homer's "The Iliad."

Inception

Inception is just incredible movie I've ever seen!

I strongly recommend you to watch this.

Here's the story line.
Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable.
Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.
Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

Christopher Nolan spent ten years writing his screen play for Inception.
Inception has well-organised plot. There are several sweet twists and unpredictable turns.
The thrilling music in the film is phenomenal! it is provided by none other than Hans Zimmer, who was also set the mood for Nolan's previous film, The Dark Knight.

To conclude, I would just say before your life ends, do yourself a favour by experiencing this exceptionally lucid classic created by Nolan!

The Hangover

I guess you all know 'The Hangover' series.  It is a funny movie, flat out, all the way through. Its setup is funny. Every situation is funny. Most of the dialogue is funny almost line by line. At some point we actually find ourselves caring a little about what happened to the missing bridegroom -- and the fact that we almost care is funny, too.
The story is three buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas, with no memory of the previous night and the bachelor missing. They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding.

I think especially part 1 is one of a kind. see below a funny part of the movie.

From the beginning of the movie right up to the end it is consistently funny, there really are not any slow parts to this movie because they are on a constant journey and race against time.
And just when you thought the movie couldn't get any funnier the last 30 seconds of the movie slaps you across the face. I literally was laughing so hard I cried.

I recommend this movie if you want to laugh hard :)

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

Young Bruno lives a wealthy lifestyle in prewar Germany along with his mother, elder sister, and SS Commandant father. The family relocates to the countryside where his father is assigned to take command a prison camp. A few days later, Bruno be friends another youth, strangely dressed in striped pyjamas, named Shmuel who lives behind an electrified fence.

Bruno will soon find out that he is not permitted to befriend his new friend as he is a Jew, and that the neighbouring yard is actually a prison camp for Jews awaiting extermination.
Although it starts of slow, you soon get wrapped up in the story and feel as if you are there.
It's amazing to see the different points of view and the acting is so believable you feel as if it is all happening there and then.I have cried at films while watching it but this is the only film that has made me want to sob. When it finished and the credits started rolling, no one moved from their seats or said anything. The last scene of this film is unforgettable and I was shocked. When people did start to get up an leave the cinema, still no one said anything.
It is the best film I have ever seen and recommend everyone sees it.

About time

If you like previous Richard Curtis (writer, director) films such as Four Weddings and a funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually then you will very likely enjoy this romantic time travel comedy movie.

At the age of 21, Tim(Domhall Gleeson) has been told a stunning secret of the family from his father : The men in his family possess the ability to travel through time.

There are restrictions to this gift that Tim will have to keep in mind: They can only travel back in time, never to the future (because that would be crazy), and only to times in their own lives, to moments they were present for and can remember. Naturally -- and because this is a Richard Curtis film -- Tim decides to use it for something really important: to find true love.

He learns that the ability to travel through time can hinder happiness as much as helps it if one's not careful.
Then, midway through the film, "About time" switches focus.
The love story is still there, but the focus shifts to the love between Tim and his father, who has some additional lessons to impart about life.
Rather, "About Time" is a movie with a purpose, and that purpose is to entertain while also to serve as a psychic string around the finger, reminding us to stop and appreciate the extraordinary in the ordinary all around us.
This movie is sweet, gentle, soul-satisfying. Its certainly a great date movie too.

Here is trailer of the movie!

Master and Commander

This is a simply fantastic movie. In fact, I'd say it is MORE than a movie; the soundtrack is sublime and perfectly fits the fantastic visuals that capture the imagination and whisk the viewer away to a romantic time of voyage and war. The acting is so convincing and the characters so realistic and wonderful, whilst the ship comes to life with camera angles and backdrops of heaving oceans and tropical ports. The story follows a Captain who's ship is immersed in conflict on the high seas, and involves a long chase, cunning plot twists with both the main character and his adversary the French captain, a scary storm scene, several fantastic action scenes, and a visit to the Galapagos Islands which excites any viewers' perception of wonder and adventure. Not only does the film pack all of this in just 2 hours of thrills, but it manages to be genuinely funny without any rudeness or jokes in poor taste. I firmly recommend this movie to anyone wishing a sense of adventure, and give it 4.75 stars out of 5 overall! Fantastic film, one of the greatest ever!

Divergent

Divergent :
Talks about a girl who has three abilities at the same time. But in the real world, they can only has one of the five, which are Candor, Erudite, Amity, Dauntless and Abnegation. Anyone belongs to two or more departments, which mean that who have more than one ability are called divergent, that are not allowed to happen at that time. Tris, the actress, is a divergent but is sent to dauntless fraction in order to maintain the world into peacefully. Everyone who becomes a member of Dauntless officially has to inject a chip so that leaders can control them. But the divergent can’t be control in this way, and they don’t agree the way they control the world so that they fight for it. It is a good action movie and it is worth to watch it.

Thor: the dark world

The Thor: the dark world is the second sequel of The Thor. Protagonists are the same, Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson) PORTER (JANE FORSTOR) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki Laufeyson). In America, the first week of The Thor: the dark world was ranked first, and in China, it was ranked number one in the first three days. Even though people love the gravity more, and the gravity obtained awards when the thor II didn’t, it is still a good movie for people to enjoy. Inside the movie, there are some funny scenes that make people laugh. It is really a good movie that you can enjoy it.

The Fast and the Furious series

Since The Fast and the Furious 1 came out in 2011, it became popular. Inside each of the movie, there are hundreds of thousands of famous big brand cars showed in front of the screen and attracted those people who crazy about cars’ eyeballs. People turn their cars by themselves and bet who goanna win the match. They drive through the highways and use their talent to win the match, just like the cars’ race in the real life. Of course, it was really cool!! As not a fan of cars, I still feel amazing of the cars. So it is worth to have a watch.

The gravity

The gravity, which was displayed in 2013, is a amazing 3D movie. It was talking about a disaster in universe and how they escaped from it and landed safely at the end. The disaster was triggered by a missile from Russia because the missile destroyed a satellite then the fragments scattered in universe and two astronauts lost the connection with communication center at the same time.
This movie was played by Sandra Bullock and George Clooney mainly and got a good reputation and comment in public. In 2013, The Gravity gets numbers of awards in several areas and shocked the world, especially in Oscar Award Ceremony . Bt the way, the selfie time during the ceremony was really popular.
